SE Florida IBOC Status

Presented here is information on the status of AM broadcast stations in southeast Florida that operate using the IBOC (In Band On Channel) system, also referred to as HD (High Definition) radio. At present there are four such stations which are addressed by this web site. The observations and measurements are offered for whatever value they may hold.

The Performance page of this web site presents comparative signal strengths of IBOC digital sidebands and the associated analog signal when using three antennas with different levels of signal gain. There is also an audio sample of the sound of IBOC for those fortunate enough to not otherwise hear it on their radio.

On the Additional Data page there is other information and observations less directly related to AM IBOC operations, but of some interest when considering the subject.

Spectrum scans were made in Boca Raton, Florida. The distances in above table are from this location.
The vertical divisions in the scan images are at 2.5kHz spacing, the width is 50kHz, horizontal divisions are not calibrated.
Signal strength in scan images are optimized for display purposes and do not reflect strength relative to each other.
The scans were made using a Ten-Tec RX320D receiver and LF Engineering M-601 MW active vertical antenna.
Stations included have operated with IBOC at some time in the last six months.
Frequency and location of each station is from the FCC AM database.
IBOC Status shows ON and OFF dates when noticed, checks are made every two or three days.
An N following the IBOC Status date indicates Nighttime operation.
Power of each station is from the FCC AM database.
